Rest in Peace - Stephen Gately

Totally devasted to know about the passing of one of the members of my favourite boy band (boyzone) - Stephen Gately on 10 Oct 2009. There goes my dream of going to the boyzone concert in UK.

I still remembered the first song - no matter what, that i notice about this boy band. At that time, it was stephen who sing this song. I notice this is because it was sung with so much oriental feel. Maybe because of the MTV. From there on, boyzone has become my favourite boy band.

Thanks for giving such wonderful memories. Rest in peace, Stephen.

Songs for my mother

I rejoiced when i know that my favourite singer - Ronan Keating has released a new album. And especially touching to know that the album was dedicated to his dearest mother. I swore that i must go get this album.

I think this album is so timely for me as it is such a great important milestone for me too. As i become a mother myself, I am able to appreciate a role of a mother even better. And of course, how important my mother it is to me.

I never find someone who can related to me as much as Ronan thru his heartfelt songs. How important our mother is and how much we fear to lost them. From his songs, i could tell how much it is hard for him to cope with his ma loss. I guess, no one could have the courage to do such a album given this circumstances. I applause his courage.

I esp like song # 5 & 7. It is especially touching. Songs that can move me in such a way. Thru his sensual vocal, i really can feel his love for his mother. Such a touching album. :)

Boy Zone

I know i will definitely lose my sanity over this boyband. I first came to know Boy Zone when I was studing in UK. The first song that I got to know is "No Matter What". Subsequently, I fall I love with this group. They are simply fantastic.

Boyzone was an Irish boy band of the 1990s. They were formed in 1993 by former manager Louis Walsh who advertised an audition for boys to form a vocal group. The five members are:
Ronan Keating, Stephen Gately, Mikey Graham, Shane Lynch & Keith Duffy

Among the "boys" - Ronan Reating is my fav. He has a very sexy and husky vocal. I find him a hybrid of Tom Cruise and David Beckem. And next to him, i also notice the other singers - Stephen Gately , he is the smallest among the rest but he has a very unique vocal. Ronan has always been the lead singer and Their songs has been very popular, just to name a few herewith:

1) No Matter What
2) Words
3) I love the way you love me
4) Everyday I love you
5) Picture of you
6) Baby can I hold you tonight
7) When you say nothing at all
8) All that I need

and some of them have been movie theme song eg. Picture of you - OST of Mr Bean, When you say nothing at all - Notting Hill

Among these songs - I especially like Everyday I love you. This is my all time fav and I swore to learn this piece on the piano one day

The group performed together for the last time in January 2000. I know that they have comeback and will be performing in May & June this year. I had very much wanted to watch their concert. But I know it is quite hard for me to travel to UK. Unless a miracles happen…..

歌圣 or 歌神

Consider a dream come true for me. I know i wouldnt have any regret in life to have watch my favourite singer - Jacky cheung concert LIVE in singapore for this JACKY CHEUNG WORLD TOUR 2007.

The whole concert lasted for 3 hours. Not only, there is no break in btw, what impressed me the most is at age of 46, Jacky is able to 载歌载舞 and there is no single trait of breathless in him.

He is always able to deliver those love songs with such 深情, it's the 深情 that 打动我. Tonight, i have learned about how to work hard and live life. I am so touched by him. 加油, 学友 !!!

Great Classic Guitar Piece

There were a few songs that i wish i could play them well on a guitar. These are some of the songs that i loved and true blue classic pieces

1. Tears in heaven - Eric Clapton
I read about the story behind this sad song from an article. This song was released after Eric's Clapton four year old son climbed out from an open window and fell to his death. And this song was written by him in memory of his son.

2. More than Words - Extreme

3. Now and Forever - Richard Marx

In fact, i have learnt the guitar when i was in the Poly days for one year at a music school. But i only managed to play and know a few chords. But i always remembered the first song that the instructor play was More than Words. And that is enough to motivate me to learn the guitar well. But easy say than done, i only know how to play two songs on guitar over that one year.

张学友-在你身边

Yes, I finally made it !! A once in a lifetime chance to meet my favourite idol in person.

Jacky cheung was here yesterday at Bugis Junction for his autograph session and to promote his latest album – 在你身边. This is the first time i m queuing up for such fanfare, was filled with excitement and I have to persuade my hubby to come along with me as well.

I lbegin to listen to Jacky's songs when I was in primary school. My two brothers are both ardent fans of jacky, so I was 耳濡目染 even at such a young tender age. I still remembered very well the evergreen classic and also my all time favourite – 月半弯. Since then, I have begin to fall in love with Jacky's songs.

Jacky's has a great vocal. A vocal that is so unique and has such great healing and soothing power. His songs accompanied me thro’ my life. I listen to his album 吻别when I first started my job in DBS bank. Even when I went to UK to further my studies, I can keep listening to this one song – 失眠夜 all day/nite long. My eldest brother sung 你知不知道 at his wedding nite to my sis in law. And even for my wedding march-in song – I pick this song 真爱. His songs are always associated with me with fondly memories.

I know that Jacky is already into his semi retired mode. I know that if I miss this chance, I will live with this regret in life. 人因梦想而为大. Therefore, I have decided to go for it. At the risk of being mocked by my friends/family. We end up queuing for 2 hours, to finally get to see him in person, handshake with him and to get his autograph on our CD. A temporal 5 secs moment is going to last me for a lifetime memory. It is definitely worth all the effort

认真的男人最有魅力. Despite signing for the umpteenth times. There is no single trace of tireness in him. And he is forever wearing a great amiable smile. 不愧是天王- he is so undaunted by the long quene. And the best part is…his signature is so consistent even after signing for that long hours. I guess I shouldn’t be complaining too much for the mere two hours queue.

Special thanks to my no-nonsense hubby for fulfilling my dream, i will always remember what I say to Jacky last nite in person. Alto it is simple two words of 加油, it was an electrifying moment for me. Such a 近距离的接触, 历历在目

Anyway, while waiting for my turn to be up there, I have made use of this time to write this surviving guide for all those great fans out there who belong to the 追星一族

Surviving guide to fan club
1. take leave
Depending on how popular is your idol. Sometimes, it is better to be wise to take leave so that u can chop a good place.

2. buy cd
That is the passport to any such events. Even if you forgot, nevermind. Look out for such booth, i am sure you can buy them there
3. bring umbrella
For rain or shine, m sure it will come into handy
4. pack/"ta-bao" food
I am sure you do not want to be in the limelight for creating a scene when u faint. Anyway, u can eat and queue at the same time.
5. bring camera
Do remember to charge your camera and test it before it is too late. Another alternative is to make friends there and then who can help you take pictures. But do remember to get their email just in case
6. bring a book/mp3/handheld games
Just to kill time, do something useful
7. make some friend/bring a friend
In case if the process gets a bit bored. It will be good to have someone along. Or better still, make friends there and then, afterall, we are rooting for the same idol. Sure got common topics to talk
8. be prim and proper
Bound to spot media and press reporter. Have to look good in any circumstances, you never know if you friends/family will spot you in TV.
9. bring a portable fan
Singapore with such a hot climate plus the long hours of queueing, a portable fan will sure be a plus point
10. go toilet
If you do not want to miss your turn, go and answer the nature call before it is too late
